He was basically a turnaround CEO; there didn’t seem to be much in the way of auto-specific elements to his strategy. “Cut costs and don’t invest in new products for the foreesable future” is about as fundamental as it gets, in any industry.

“Get it so Americans don’t need a car at all.”
Watts is the right unit. Joules is energy; Watts is energy per unit time; Amps is pretty close in a car since that’s current, which is some number of electrons per unit time, at a known voltage, the electrons times volts per unit time is also known; which is pretty much another unit for Watts.
AnalogMan, if you long for the old BaT days, give Guys-With-Rides a try.
Guys With Rides. Check it out.
guyswithrides.com is better than second daily as it isn’t sop heavily focused on just Land Rover.
Have you looked at guyswithrides.com ? They’re really trying to recreate what BaT used to be.
Tax the rich. :)
So., it’s “BaTsh!t Crazy”. Roger that.
Thanks for that post. All I can say now is this website seems to be more like early BAT: https://seconddaily.com/
I’ve been around a long time (60-something years)
God I remember that 2007 bubble so well. Having seen 57 Chevy’s go for $250k and now they are worth about $60k still blows my mind. That and the mini and micro car explosion then too.
“Older gentleman?!?”
I don’t say this much on kinja boards but this comment was great, thank you.
I highly appreciate your perspective as an older gentleman. As a gen-Zer who grew up a ‘90s japanese car fanatic, I sincerely can’t wait for those prices to go back down.
I don’t think we’d ever see a RWD Subaru without Toyota pushing for it.
i honestly think most people who complain about the car not having enough power have probably never even driven the car to peak horsepower (7k RPMs). People want the car to “feel” faster i.e. have torque when they floor it from cruising in 6th like a turbo Mustang or WRX. How fast it actually is around a track or a…
The problem is that Toyota/Subaru are offering a sushi platter to an audience that (mostly) only know how to appreciate cheap cheeseburgers.
Many of the “not enough power” crowd don’t seem to inhabit the real world, where speed limits, traffic and insurance costs are a thing.
Find me a RWD car that weighs less than the BRZ for the same price and then I’ll consider worrying about how much power it has. (Miatas are lighter but they’re also about $5k more expensive)
