The Civic Si shows that after a long time wandering aimlessly in the desert, Honda finally seems to be getting its mojo back. It’s a better car than you’d expect for the price. It’s fun to drive, economical, practical enough to be a daily driver, very reasonably priced, and one of the few coupes still on the market –

Bring-A-Trailer is a wonderful place to see all sorts of exotic, unusual, rare, offbeat, bizarre, impossible to find, and otherwise drool-worthy machines. I’m on the site far too many times every day for sound mental health. It’s fantastic entertainment, like watching the Barrett-Jackson auctions.

It’s interesting that Jeremy Clarkson (of Top Gear), who is always screaming about wanting ‘moaw pooowwaahhh!!’ thinks the BRZ/86 “stirs the soul and trousers of every petrolhead in the land”.

Infiniti has fallen so far from the company that brought us the G35 Coupe in 2003. That car was beautiful, well-built, stylish enough to turn heads yet comfortable and practical enough to be a daily driver, with better reliability, lower maintenance costs, and a lower price than a 3 series BMW. The G37 Coupe that

To rebut my own comments, the BRZ/86 probably wouldn’t exist at all without Toyota’s money and involvement. I doubt Subaru could have done it on its own. I hope the tepid sales are enough to justify Toyota’s financial hurdles. It’s less than rounding error relative to their total revenues, and if they back out of the

Unfortunately, Toyota is a highly financially-driven, business-oriented company. That’s why they’ve been so successful over the years, and are now the largest car company in the world. It’s all about the ‘business case’ with everything Toyota does, and has been for a long time.

Most of the interweb critics have never owned or even driven a BRZ. The internet brings out a lot of armchair experts and bench racers. The issue with the BRZ is that people expect it to have Corvette power. It’s not that kind of car. Think of it as a hardtop Miata. Because that’s what it is.

This. Thank you.

Ghosn’s already spent over a year in jail under conditions that would be considered torture in most western countries. Not allowed to see or talk with his wife for 7 months. Restrictions even on when and how he could talk with his own lawyers. Then he finds out, oh, by the way, your trial won’t be for another year and

Good for him. As many others have said, he NEVER would have gotten a fair trial in Japan. What is “honorable” behavior when your captors are not treating you anything remotely resembling ‘honorably’?

As Samuel Clemens (also attributed to George Carlin) said, “Never argue with an idiot. They’ll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience”.

Actually, he’s 77, an old-school hot rodder who’s built well over 100 jaw-droppingly beautiful cars in his life and probably knows more about cars than most people you’ll ever meet. His cars routinely get trophies, and he still drag raced until last year (when his arthritis couldn’t take the g-forces of acceleration

Sad to think, but I guess this is the kind of cash it’s going to take to get a manual transmission in the future.

In China, about 70% of the 1.2 million electric or gasoline-electric hybrid models sold over the past year went to government and company fleets,

If Tesla didn’t call it “Autopilot” then stupid people (who don’t read the fine print) wouldn’t think that it was one, and wouldn’t do dumb shit like this.

If you think this was insane, Juicero was absolutely the stupidest waste of money ever:

GM has been a company hamstrung by battles between engineers and beancounters. They once made cars that were looked up to as some of the best designed and most desirable in the world, in the 50’s and 60’s (albeit with some of the inherent quality shortcomings of the times). This was the company that brought the C2

The answer to what question?

Thank you for all of your funny, interesting, and educational writing over the years. You are my favorite automotive writer. You will be sorely missed by many.
