'Diva' was a word used for the very greatest of opera singers. It's about talent, not tantrums.

It's obviously what she wants. Wearing designer samples and looking every inch the picture perfect entertainment star is something she wants and she works her ass off to get it. More power to her. It's something I could never do.

Or "eat veggies." -eyeroll-

Yes, I was just coming here to post that. I hate it when celebrities lose tons of weight after having a baby, and just say, "OH I just chase after the baby all day long! Tra lala!" Or, this one interview I read with Megan Fox where they asked about her fitness regime and she goes, "Oh god I am such a pig I eat nothing

Shit, man. I'm currently reading The Fault in Our Stars, a (fantastic) novel about a teenager with cancer. This is just too much. Too much.

I don't think she's as young as fifteen. I know they said she was a senior in high school, which technically would make her a little young for Phelps, but STILL - it would be too cute! They are both gold medal swimmers, they are both young American heroes, their names are alliterative! OMG I just can't handle it.

They are also adept at mocking social behavior, so Facebook would be great for them I would imagine. I think most people who don't have a Facebook page are either a) Luddites; b) too cool for school; c) old; or d) all of thee above.

It depends. When you're at a party and people are talking about, say, Mad Med or Breaking Bad, do you sniff and say, "I don't have cable, I just wait for it to come out on Netflix," yet not leave the conversation, leaving everyone else standing there awkwardly because now they can't talk about what they wanted to talk

I have always just assumed that, but I'm cynical that way. I mean, it really makes a lot of sense from a PR angle, "OMG Bella and Edward are really in LUUURRRVEE!!!!" I never for a second bought that it was a real relationship and now I am shock to see that most people did. I mean, really?

Yes! I am just kind of disappointed the girlfriend isn't Missy Franklin because I think that would be super cute, in a novel series written for teen girls kind of way. Can't you just see it? "The Swimmers Club, will Michael and Missy ever find love??"

I think we should have a contest to see who made it the longest. I got 44 seconds in.

That was my immediate response. I lived in China for three years in the early nineties. I would have never, ever in a million years dreamed of drinking tap water that hadn't been boiled. Sure, my Chinese friends didn't boil their water, but guess what? THEY ARE USED TO IT AND THEIR BODIES CAN DEAL WITH THE PARASITES.

And during that month, don't a lot of kids still participate in school-related activities like extra studying and cram sessions and such, particularly at the high school level?

Obviously, I am not talking about a draconian Soviet-style education gulag that has to be exactly the same for everyone. I am sure that arrangements could and would be made for people participating in activities that the school does not cover, like elite gymnastics.

I also find all these stories of being left alone in the library very strange. When I was growing up, either I had to beg an adult to take me, or I went and attended one of their summer programs. The summer programs were NOT all day AT ALL, and you HAD to bring your lunch, and a parent HAD to pick you up in the middle

As someone who got married this past April, the sleeved wedding dresses are not where us normal people shop. Ugh, the agony.

Yes, it would also eliminate the "my parents do all my homework for me so my little fifth grade science projects look like PhD dissertations in nuclear physics."

They don't get nap time anymore? That makes me so sad. :(

Where is this abundance of low-priced all day summer camps you speak of? They do not exist where I live. Large cities probably have more options like this, but I live in a fairly rural area, and finding low cost all day and after school care is very, very difficult. It is incredibly under-served, and what does exist

Ok, that is a very good point. I went to small private schools and have no experience with huge schools like yours. I'm sure some kind of arrangement could be made, though! Maybe have off campus activities for the older kids or something?
