I know this is going to come as a strange concept to you, but this is what some of us would refer to as a “reliable daily driver.” Hear me out for a moment, because I think I may help you see the light...

I mean, you can’t actually buy an e-Tron GT yet, and you have been able to buy a Tesla Model S for nearly a decade. That does give Tesla a minor advantage when it comes to being a car that you see on the road.

Meanwhile I’ve done three 3k+ plus roadtrips in my Model Y in the last 6 months (trips to and from parents are about that length). Additionally 250 mile round trips are not uncommon, so being able to actually non-stop it is a big improvement even in the winter (last one was 3 weeks ago to pick up my puppy).

so chickens have monocoque chassis structures?

It’s a good test. If anything, it’s better to use an unfamiliar driver; the average Joe is just going to yank the wheel and hope for the best too.

Well, the driver didn’t know what to expect in the first run and consequently over-controlled the car. The successful run used less control inputs and it handled great. Perhaps counterintuitively, it shows the car responds better than initially expected.

I know a lot of folks aren’t going to like the interior swap, but the interior swap is what actually makes this truck liveable. If you wanted to daily this truck, you could. Why? Because old interiors wore you out.

At least she doesn’t cackle while yelling “MWUAHAHAHAH! COUNTESS OF COLD HANDS!!!” while stealing your body heat.

My favorite heat exchanger is my wife, who can somehow pile on three blankets and still absorb all my body heat by touching my leg with a single icy foot.

“3rd Gear: NHTSA Pressures Tesla To Do Something For Once”

He’s a rich asshole who does rich asshole things, like treat his workers like indentured servants and get REALLY mad and petty when someone calls out his dumb ideas as dumb.
That said, at least he’s a useful rich asshole who has dumped untold amounts of money into genuinely positive technologies to fulfill his

Could you please keep these opinions to yourself for at least another 2-3 years? I should have garage space available by then to own a 996/986 Porsche, and I feel that the fried-egg sentiment is one opinion that is helping keep those prices at least semi-sane for the time being.

Outright bans on manufacturing and selling ICE cars is stupid, anti-consumer, and frankly, anti-democratic.

counterpoint: the regulations aren’t being drawn up with stuff like a hellcat in mind at all. they’re being drawn up to cover the 99.99% of cars that aren’t hellcats and the modern muscle cars are just going to be collateral damage. look around in a parking lot. there are an awful lot of V8 powered trucks.

What you are saying is we need AutoAssembly, and assembly line run off cameras and actuators, not lidar cause who needs that when we can deep learn proper panel alignment. Just as long as shadows dont move it wont ever miss a panel.

Okay, straight up leave it to Elon Musk to try to re-invent the automobile throttle controls and come up with something that’s even dumber than a video game controller.

Seriously.

At least one or two major video game series have their console controls as “right trigger moves forward” and “left trigger stops and goes

which I assume would reduce utilization.

I’m sure Tesla stans will be in the comments explaining how, in fact, Tesla deserves the crown because of its valuation.

90% of the things the stock market does should be illegal. It is an overcomplicated web that aims to block access, and set up to only benefit a few.

Hell, Vulture capitalism is totally legal- you can buy a company with money you don’t have, sell off its assets, load it up with debt and then sell it for a profit to someone else who doesn’t actually have the money to buy it. All it takes is a really nice suit and a knowing wink to shareholders.
