You are an idiot if you don’t rinse rice before cooking. Period.

I guess most people here are non-native rice eater and that’s why them make such fuss about cooking rice and using a rice cooker. Having said that, getting perfect rice each time is not easy. If you like Asian style rice - slightly stick - the type you would get with chinese takeout, rice cooker is your best bet. But

One more thing... if you bloom saffron in water or milk and you get a beautiful deep amber/ orange colour which makes you go 'wow' - sorry, fake saffron. Real saffron blooms with light yellow colour which deepens if you let it sit in the liquid longer.

Hi, I am an Indian and have been using saffron in my cooking for a long time. There really is no substitute for real Saffron. The best is from the Kashmir valley. Very expensive. Perhaps as expensive as gold! Spanish saffron is also good especially if you consider its price. I like to buy spanish saffron from Costco.
