Usually, a bunch of the DC schools get invitations in addition to the tickets that are given out by lottery. There were reports in the local DC area news that those invitations didn’t go out this year.

They likely gave them to supporters, donors, and those they want to curry for favor because they owe them money or want something.

Normally, DC Public Schools get a good amount of tickets, but since no one bothered to plan the damn thing in advance, they have a little less than half of the normal crowd. A lot of these kids are staffers kids.
