I got Oldboy from Netflix back in 2009 and it blew my mind. I had probably only seen a handful of foreign films before then and it really opened up my world, along with a couple of film studies courses and a cinephile roommate.
I spent a night in Omaha on a cross-country drive last year. Had a pretty good fried chicken sandwich and blue corn hush puppies for dinner downtown. It was a Friday night at like 9:00 and I didn’t see a single other person on the walk through the (eerily clean) streets, so this all checks out.
