You can easily carry a backpack and take the trash with you. I do this all the time when I visit Japan. It’s considered good manners in Japan to take one’s trash with to dispose of it properly. But I do agree with you that there are hardly any trash cans.

I have an office job and we NEVER see clients but we’re still required to wear business casual at the very least, but it wasn’t always like that, before we went public the company was a cool place to work at, we got to wear jeans and t-shirts as long as they didn’t have any offensive logos or images.
