One of many reasons Japanese cars make no sense to me. Not that they’re the only guilty ones here obviously. Timing belts are dumb.

Obviously replace gaskets and seals that you touch. Check the internet for other common failures.

Most of mine are warranty concerns so they have no need to make the attempt themselves. A lot of their complaints end up no problem found or operating as designed, after wasting at least an hour on their bullshit complaints.

Totally agree about VAG. Didn’t know they did a timing belt at the back though! Most everything I’ve ever done on one of their products has been stupid.

Lol that’s cute. Northstars are easy. I promise you there are much more complicated starters than this. And honestly, unless you’re working on GM products, starters aren’t that common. Most cars never need them replaced, and those that do, it’s maybe once in its lifetime. So... Big deal.

Or you can replace the problematic intake boot and some other potential fair points at the same time thus saving the customer some money in the future. You also need to remember this was probably a car that cost more than the average American’s annual income. Just because the car depreciated, doesn’t mean servicing it

I don’t understand this complaint. Sure the starter isn’t two bolts under the car. But it isn’t hard. Not even a little bit. Just different. Manage your expectations and perception and everything is fine.

Pretty sure Mercedes does this also. Surprisingly easy to work on most of the time.

Can you forward this to every engineer you know and have them forward it to every engineer they know, and so on and so forth?

I love this. Fuck you, Portland. Figure your shit out and stop wasting our damn money. Could we also get some retroreflective road paint while we’re at it? The city that works? My ass.

But I ran track. Why am I being left out of this? That’s discrimination.

It would be 2019. Most Benz models work on a 7 year run. 4 years before a major facelift, 3 years after a major facelift.

While I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m curious, have you driven a V12 S-class? They feel smoother and more luxurious. The sensation from acceleration is entirely different from anything else I’ve ever driven, and that sensation is very hard to describe. Even the sound is in a different class from the V8. These things

I’ve been all over the country and driven in a bunch of cities. When I moved to Oregon almost ten years ago I ran multiple red lights because the yellows went by twice as fast as I expected. I still run them (barely, like it goes red as I enter the box and I’m fully aware of surrounding traffic) on my motorcycle if

The chain could be for the oil pump, or also balance shafts if it has them. Don’t know what that engine is though.

Forgive me for being two months late but I’ve got a scary story to go along with this.

Now just get AMG, BMW, and Porsche to send you to their driving academies. Then compare them all!

Lol gotcha. That is definitely something a mechanic would say to mess with a co-worker.

Every can I can think of has a comparatively easy to remove doghouse with the intention of servicing the engine from the cabin. A lot of people aren’t aware of this though.

The spark plug thread you say? Ford V8 says what?
