I haven’t noticed any disruption at all. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m on a large university network that might have it’s own DNS register.
I’ve been on the internet all day in the middle of one of those dark red spots and haven’t noticed anything wrong. I can get to the sites that are supposed to be ‘down’ no problem. CNN, HBO GO, Fox News, Twitter, etc.
Why? Seems much better to cut off the attacking country than the country being attacked.
It looks like all the packets are being sent from single countries. Is there a reason why the server can’t just deny all requests from say China if they receive more than a certain number of Chinese requests per minute?
How does the bot net get created in the first place? Is the best way to stop such attacks then just to have better protection of devices built into operating systems so that they’re not reliant on people running anti-virus software?
