XBMC, if you have the patience setting up MySQL, works very well for multiple XBMC devices and keeps your libraries in sync. The only downfall, not setting it up on a Roku anytime soon though.

I will say I use both since both have their strengths and weaknesses, (Plex, much better with streaming video and sharing itunes libraries, XBMC, much better plugin support and more customizable HTPC interface).
Not sure if this has been noted in the comments. For the iOS app, I would suggest over the one recommended in the article, instead I would choose the official XBMC remote. It is a free app and the developer is great about putting new functions in the remote to make it better, and it has both an iPhone and iPad…
I am actually using both, but I do prefer XBMC over Plex, but both do have their strengths over the other I will give you that. I am using the PleXBMC XBMC plugin so I have access to my Plex content in XBMC.
I prefer XBMC, because not everything thing has to be scanned into the library, you can just link folders, while Plex requires scanning all your library to have access to it. Also XBMC has a quite bit more for plugins(some questionable for legality) than Plex does.
lets just say I am extremely pissed Google is killing the product that I use more then 10 hours everyday. Why don't we just kill Gmail, G0ogle Maps, and Google Talk at the same time.
Since I have started using two monitors, I had a day I had one of my monitors stop working and was forced to use only one monitor and I felt handicapped. I am not sure if I am more productive, but I know I cannot go back to working with one monitor and feel as efficient.
ugh....318 apps on my iPhone 5, I guess maybe I need to read the "breaking your app addiction" article.
Cool, thanks for the tip. I will try this when I get home from work.
I was searching around, and I think it does work with NextPVR(from their forum posts). Thanks again for posting this great article, the reason I keep coming back to Lifehacker.
I have the Mohu Leaf antenna, and easily the best antenna I have used. I had two other antennas before this and I had to move them a certain direction to get certain channels, and with the Leaf I have not had to do that.
I was looking to do a windows machine and use NextPVR, and more interested in taking that route, if it was possible. Don't really feel like stringing another cable across my room to do this with a TV tuner card.
I also got two extra jobs and basically did nothing for 10 months, I had my "I've had it moment", and I was willing to sacrifice life for a short time to pay everything off. It was not easy, and I extremely hated not having a life, but the punishment I went through for the short 10 months, will teach me never to…
Can anyone confirm if you can use a HD Homerun(not the prime version, just the antenna version of it) to replicate these results, instead of using a tuner card?
a snow scraper...that is about all that is in my car for helpful items(other than spare tire and jack). I am kind of a neat freak so I keep my car pretty much spotless inside.
I believe still paying off the smallest debt is the smartest way to attack this(I can confirm this works since I paid off 30,000 in a little under 10 months by using the debt snowball method) since getting the little ones paid off quick gives you small wins so it makes you feel like you are gaining traction(and keeps…
for the apple tv 2, firecore is the best site for jailbreak information, unfortunately there is not a apple tv 3 jailbreak(and I doubt there will ever be one, since it has been out for almost a year and still no progress): http://support.firecore.com/entries/387605-jailbreaking-101-seas0npass
not for Apple TV 3, unfortunately: https://twitter.com/MuscleNerd/status/295969366661541888
if stores even consider doing this, prepared to see your business go out of business, since there will be plenty that will not be passing this charge to the customer.
Pivos XIOS DS, you can get them at amazon for 105.99, you will need a micro sdhc card also to load the xbmc image. It will allow you to the android version of xbmc(still seems to have a few issues), or you can do the linux version(which is about perfect and quite a bit more stable than android).
