Playing through Nier: Automata right now after making it one of my only TWO purchases this year (the other being Horizon: Zero Dawn). It’s fantastic; albeit daunting - please do get around to it someday.

My favorite one-off was Brutal Legend. That was a blast, cruising around a fully-realized heavy metal world with Eddie. I could live there quite happily.

But if I have to pick something a little more legitimate then I’d probably go with Warcraft (only because the world of Harry Potter isn’t really a game world).

You’re absolutely right. And a lot of progressive-types will say ‘you don’t have to offend anyone to be funny’ and I don’t know how true that is. As you said, the best comedy is social commentary.

One thing, I think, is that most comedy can’t be critiqued objectively. It’s like the most subjective thing in the world.
