Unless I missed something Selfie isn't being burned off, it's just airing back to back in two weeks while they find something to replace MLS.

I was on board back when this was Untitled Netflix Series with Kyle Chandler, and still very excited about it, mainly because of that cast. Glad we've got a release date (or at least release month) now, though hopefully we'll get a trailer soon with a little bit more footage.

Came in here to respond, but looks like fauxcault has pretty much done my job for me. Yes they're ethnic backgrounds are varied enough that I probably should have specified before being quite so general in my labeling of them as black, but I also think that arguing that they are not is getting more into technicalities

After reading the article I went back and watched the trailer again and then did a thorough search of the internet for any mention of Zoe Saldana in relation to Top Five, but no it does indeed look like Dan Selcke can't tell black actresses apart, or do a quick IMDB search for that matter. Kinda embarrassing, really.

Yeah, the fact that Bob's aired an episode last week, and then is going to go until November 2nd until the next one is just stupid programming. I understand that networks need to pad out their schedules, but don't bring a show back, and then take it off the air for a month. That's just doing it no favours.

What? Where are they?

Well the second season took until episode 5 or so to actually get going, and we can all remember how the rest of that season turned out. This could turn out to be Scandal's worst, messiest season, or could in a couple episodes reveal itself to be it's best. I don't think the the slow, slightly all over the place start

I really don't see the Tarantino connection at all. Yes, Tarantino does lots of violence, but I don't see him doing anything like the school shooting etc. That's besides the point though, as I'm assuming that the stylization will be much like the rest of Fincher's work, and hopefully a very different take on the

That would have been nice. Basically what they did with Armando Iannucci, where they wanted to make a remake of his british show The Thick of It, but ended up making Veep, which is similar in many ways, but is also its own thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they turn out.

The british show is awesome. Unlike with Broadchurch, which was a big hit in the UK, I can't imagine there's a great financial reason to remake this, as the original is an unnerving, nasty, blackly comic conspiracy thriller, and while it got a lot of critical attention and has gained a decent cult following, doesn't

Pretty much what I came in here to write. The pilot isn't perfect, but the problems I had with it (not all the jokes landed well, a bit too sappy/on the nose at times, overbearing voiceover) are all things that can and most likely will be tweaked in upcoming weeks, and the foundations of the show seem fairly solid,

For a film class in school, I was forced to watch Youth Without Youth, which is by far the worst film I have ever seen punctuated briefly by a scene of unintentional hilarity where the central character (played by Tim Roth), is narrating his diary entry, and mid entry explains that he is no longer going to be making

Just to be pedantic, it's Antwon, there's no 'e' at the end.

Piper isn't the show's main character, she's just a prominent member of the show's ensemble. I'm only 4 episodes in so I don't know where the show goes from here, but so far I'm perfectly happy with how they are using Piper.

I think the complaint is less to do with your review, which doesn't make too big a deal of it, than some of the others out there, which spend far too long complaining about not getting more episodes and using that as a basis to be negative/wary about the show itself. It's a point worth mentioning, because as you say,

It is kind of silly how the critical community is having such a temper tantrum over this. I think the pilot was filmed a fair bit before the rest of the series, which maybe had something to do with the availability of future episodes. Either way, I don't see how they can't just review the episode and leave more big

Other then the fact that they both wear suits and are good at making impassioned speeches, there isn't much that I find similar between the two men. People like making these kind of shallow comparisons though; it helps them make sense of things if they can put it in a box and slap a label on it. Doesn't seem that

While it's obviously a premise pilot meant to get everyone together for whatever the rest of the show is going to be, I thought the nervy kinetic energy and the quality of the work from all involved raised it above the plot mechanics at work, and while I hope things don't run quite as smoothly going forward, otherwise

I emailed them about it, so hopefully they will remember it next week.

I haven't seen S5 it so it may well be horrible, but the show in the first three seasons was pretty weird, with all the crazy stuff they had Harold Perrineau do etc, and I thought most of it worked, so I may well like it. It's definitely not for everyone though.
