Exactly.

The book is marvelous. I read it 5 times. Comic books are good on dialogs - maybe you picked the wrong format.

“The ending is about the agnostic protagonist finding herself in a position where she must rely on faith.” - you are wrong. she did NOT have to rely on her faith. The book explains why. Unfortunatelly, the movie could grasp this layer. It is a good movie, but it is half the book, since they decided not to include Pi.

Although I liked the movie a lot, the ending was NOT true to the book. Contact withou Pi loses half of its significance. I understand that the film was great and the Pi thing is hard to depict ina hollywood movie, but unfortunately the bigger audience lost (the main) half of the story.
