This hypermiling shit has gotten out of hand.

Since we’re on the topic of drag racing........11.xx seconds cars are called 11 second cars so 1.xx decades is called 1 decade. Yay? Nay?
Just like my friend who gets blackout drunk at weddings, they should really stop doing it if they don’t want people to keep bringing it up.
Good thing people around here HATE old cars.
Just a reminder that 1st and 2nd gen rav4 with the manual could be had with an honest and true center differential lock that made them true 4wd. The first gen even had a torsen rear LSD option.
It’s FAR better to go alone in life than to go through it with an alcoholic. They will bring you more dark times than you’ll encounter on your own.
Always go for the custom tune, even with just the Cobb intake. The E257 ECU is very sensitive to change to the intake diameter, and will advance the hell out of your timing to compensate, leaving you with parts of your map where the engine runs super lean. A custom tune will be able to dial back the timing advance…
I agree here. This is one thing subaru did well. The stock airbox (on the gd platform, this I know) can easily handle up to 400whp.
To be honest here, the issue is you have a MY08. Not a great year for Subaru.
Gas and oil companies are heavily subsidized via tax breaks and protection. Money from your pocket benefits them every year. You’re just mad because with the EV you can see your neighbor benefit directly from it, as opposed to seeing the Exxon CEO get his share.
As long as we also end corn subsidies, funding to the Middle East to stabilize oil production, and tax breaks for oil companies I’m ok with this too.
We should also remember than the drivetrain in an ICE has a loss of 12-15% (being generous), whereas a single reduction gear is well under 10%, effectively being equivalent to the differential alone.
What if I told you that the average horse doesn’t make 1HP...
Go into any Harley dealer and ask them to tell you about their new 500 and 750 products. You’ll be subjected to a screed about the supposed terribleness of products on their own sales floor.
Correct, which is why you need a clutch when your wheels are at 0 RPM.
Also, that’s why no clutch is needed even though there is direct drive without a “slush box”. IMHO, direct drive is the ultimate manual transmission, that is no transmission at all. And, electrons, being essentially weightless, respond a lot faster than gases do.
In your first example there is zero torque while the engine is not moving.
In your second example there is also zero torque as there isn’t an active coupling.
Decoupling the internal machinery from the power takeoff is called a Clutch. And 0 “Output RPM” != 0 RPM. Regular ICEs can do that too, it’s called being in neutral.
Oh, I LOVE steel too. I still ride my old 531c tube Trek when I can. I was more addressing the type of rider who rode carbon that one time in the 90s before they worked out the kinks and absolutely hated it. Nothing and I mean N-o-t-h-i-n-g rides like carbon (don’t anyone say “hydroformed aluminum tubes broh!” thats a…
I have $20,000 in bicycles in my garage, and thousands of dollars of legos on the floor. Fite me.
