That is a great point. I've been ill for so long that sometimes I forget the rest of the world doesn't see things through chronic-illness-colored glasses too! It's easy to say "this is how I'd feel if I was in the husband's shoes" but you really can't predict how you'll react to all of this stuff until you're living

Thank you! <3 I'm getting better at managing everything emotionally, which is a big victory as I've struggled with mental illness all my life too. (Of course my brain keeps trying to downplay the successes and focus on the failures, but I'm doing my best to shut it up!)

I'm sure this means next to nothing coming from a stranger in the grays, but as someone living with chronic illness I just wanted to say that you're in my thoughts and I wish you well in dealing with your health issues. Also, thank you for not judging the choices this couple has made.

Last time I checked, the goal of law enforcement is (or should be) to deescalate the situation. Just like a doctor is supposed to do the least possible amount of harm to his patients while treating their illnesses, a cop is supposed to subdue violent citizens in the least lethal way possible.
