luxury isn’t just about a soft ride. It’s about the quality of materials, steering feel, handling, weight distribution engineering, etc; anything that makes the car more than an appliance/econobox is luxury. BMW has built upmarket cars since the ‘6os but they used to be tuned for driving enjoyment vs the isolation

as others have pointed out, that’s been the way to tell a sport-package equipped car apart from those without for a long time. I think the chrome framing works for navy or black cars (I drive a e61) while shadowline makes sense for lighter colors, silver, white. Black window trim is definitely the more aggressive look
