Totally agree! One of the best moments of the show so far for me was in the first episode when Sabine was driving the Corvette chasing the Viper ACR. As she went around a corner, she said something to the effect of “suspension is shit, like a Ferrari” and it was hilarious, informative, and relateable all at the same…
U annoyed bro?
Pretty sure the hinge is in the same place at when it was unveiled. If It had been converted to a hatchback there would have to be a panel gap somewhere along that massive, overarching, rear window.
Yeah I saw your post about the Boxter/Cayman shortly after I posted. And I agree! Some of the worlds best and most iconic sports cars have been front-engine, RWD! Not sure what that dude was getting at...
While I don’t agree that a sports car has to be mid-engined. The Boxter and Alfa 4C meet your under $150k requirement pretty easily
I think you mean wastegate right? If so then you’re spot on. When max boost pressure is reached in a normal car, the wastegate opens and allows exhaust gasses to bypass the turbo to maintain that boost pressure. A car with an e-turbo would use the generator to collect that excess exhaust energy and slow down the…
I’m well aware that basically all modern engines use egr. I was just trying to emphasize that even with these systems, knock remains one of the biggest limiting factors of spark-ignition engine efficiency. Running a high octane fuel could explain how this car can make the kind of power it reportedly does
While it’s true that high RPM helps limit knock (knock being a time-dependent process and all), knock is still one of the main efficiency limiting factors in spark ignition engines. The company I work for has designed an entire engine around and EGR system that massively reduces knock, but maintains combustion…
Lots of sports cars are set-up with the accelerator pretty far forward compared to the brake pedal. The idea is that you should be braking hard before a corner when you’re downshifting and at that moment the brake and accelerator pedals will be in about the same position.
Is this english?
Since accelerator pedals in modern cars are essentially all digital, the signal would have to have come from the pedal being pressed. Tesla claims “the accelerator pedal was abruptly increased to 100%”. If autopilot was on, I could see them saying something like “the motors were commanded to maximum output”, or…
Maybe this brings about the resurgence of the full-service gas station. Car pulls in, attendant fills it up, and you’re on your way again without ever waking up from your nap. More likely though, we’d see something like Tesla’s charging snake where even the refueling part of your trip is automated.
Reminds me of their US road trip with the Viper, Aston, and LFA. The speed limit on the road they were on was 55mph, and through the magic of editing they drove at precisely 55 the whole time! Nevermind the engines revving furiously in the background as the speedometer stayed steady...
That’s what I’ve noticed too. The only thing he said about the Viper ACR was “It has a MASSIVE wing!!!” and nothing about how good, or bad it is to drive. The old trio were excellent at really giving the viewer a sense of what it was like to drive a car, what quirks were annoying or awesome, and an overall impression…
I’m not going to comment on the drive-through issue because I haven’t fully formed an opinion yet, but the hot coffee lawsuit was justified. If you do some research on the case, you’ll find that the coffee was not served at a proper serving temperature like you seem to believe. It was much hotter than it should have…
Compressor surge is kinda like over boosting, but in a different sense. If you look at a turbo’s compressor map, you’ll notice that on the left side of the map, there’s an area where the efficiency drops off sharply. This is known as the “surge line.” The map is a graph of airflow through the compressor vs. pressure…
You were so close!
Each car can only go up 200%, but what’s to stop you from buying a more expensive car with the profits and continuing the pattern? You could eventually get to that 20,000% mark, you would just go through several cars in the process. Some quick math shows you can get to 20,000% (ok, 19,800%) of the original value after…
Some quick math shows that you’d have to piss on your driver’s seat 4 times to double the value of your car. I’d gladly drink my own urine 4 times to make a few thousand dollars
