Won't happen, but I'm kind of hoping he wins the Oscar just because it would so swiftly undercut what's surely going to be an evening of very morally serious speechmaking.

Moving up in the world. It used to be that we'd need a trailer or set photo before we pre-empitively bashed a movie. Now all we need is a poorly written logline.

I approve of good roles for Colin Farrell. His 40s and 50s will be very good to him, from an acting standpoint.

I'm still waiting for them to do a "Pterodactyls vs. Fighter Jets" action sequence. Seems so obvious that I don't really understand how after four movies it still hasn't happened yet.

Yeah, merely being a jerk usually isn't enough to get everyone to turn on you. It's the combination of being a jerk and having a dudebro personality (the most charmless of personalities) that makes everyone hate him.

It's amazing how quickly everybody turned on him. On the bright side, he's got a head start on the eventual comeback story as long as he doesn't go Full Shia.

According to IMDB, it looks like his final role will be as Neville Chamberlain in a Winston Churchill biopic starring Gary Oldman and directed by Joe Wright. Not a bad one to go out on, all things considered.

Fact: You could easily toss about half of Streep's career nominations and lose nothing of value.

I can't think of any other actor that gets this kind of treatment, habitually nominated for merely being pretty good in mediocre movies. There are literally hundreds of mediocre-to-bad movies that get made each year that nevertheless feature some pretty good performances. It ain't that special.

Nah, she was already picking up some nominations ahead of that (Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA, Critic's Choice). This was just the Academy being their regular selves.

Confession: When I saw that Streep got another bullshit nomination, I muttered to myself "Trump's right about her."

Good sport blog, Ashley!

Yeah, "being charming" seemed like her main selling point for most of her A-list run. It's not like she was a great actress.

It's definitely a fair descriptor of his part in Manchester. Haven't seen the other two though.

Yep. Bruce Willis will now get a huge payday to do a film that's primarily a sequel to someone else's movie.

She worked with Altman three more times after Nashville (Short Cuts, The Player, Prairie Home Companion).

Pro tip: “It’s good that our family business is now available for public consumption” is an opinion that only a huge asshole famewhore would possess.

Honestly, that doesn't even seem like a bad way to go.

I know. Cox's Brando performance is in that same episode.
