I think there are many pro-choice people who believe in god and heaven.

The could have genetic disease in the family that would make IVF a good choice, and make choosing female embryos a good choice, like muscular dystrophy. Just playing devil's advocate here. :)
It could be that they have a genetic disorder in the family that would have affected boys, so they chose female embryos. It's legal in Canada to do that.
Rolling garlic chopper. Useful. +1 to making car noises.
I'm not sure exactly what part of my comment you have an issue with. Can you please let me know?
Apologies- there was a typo- "stronger" not "stranger"
Excuse me? It's not that I NEVER want to address the ethics, I'm just curious as to if it would actually work scientifically or not. I'm not a terrible student or person, and I won't be a crummy doctor. I have a solid base of ethics on which to build (probably stranger than most of my peers from what I've seen), and…
I just wanted to say that there could be legitimate reasons to choose IVF. It's not a flippant decision to make (I did it three times as an egg donor), but you might want to create embryos and only select female ones because, lets just say there were genetic diseases in the family that affected boys (like Duchenne's…
You can do a lot of that exogenously. We KNOW how much hormone we need at various stages. If there is any other organ other than those to do with hormone regulation I'd be interested to know. Now, the placenta, that's something that could really play a big role. I have no idea how a placenta could be formed in a trans…
Thanks so much, that's interesting. The placenta is something I hadn't considered.
Well, like I said earlier, I'm an egg donor, and so no you do not need ovaries except for the hormones they produce.
I'm surprised too, but they are doing this on a large enough scale that they should end up with some usable data. I think there are 9 uterine transplants that have been done.
Like what other requisite organs? The hormone producing ones? I am still 4 years away from being a doctor but I am searching for the answer to this question. I don't think it should be impossible with tightly-controlled hormone supplementation.
I'm a first year med student, and also an egg donor, and also a queer woman, and this is just... such a marvelously intriguing thought. This early in my medical career it's way too soon to specialize but I obviously have such a strong interest in all things reproductive health related. The future is so amazing. I'm so…
The author is coming to my med school to give a talk this weekend! We have a midterm next week but I think almost all the students are going anyways. Congrats on being ok now, by the way.
35 here, could have written what you just wrote. Wondering if it ever changes?
I have to admit that I did not know that it lit up. When I found myself in Paris for a day a few years ago, and it started the light show? I thought it was magic. Mostly just because it was surprising
Now I can't stop singing.
