Excellent! I enjoyed the same things! I thought it was so creative and heartfelt.

A former neighbor gave me her kitchen aid grinder attachment, but an old one with a wooden tamper, which is great. So I’ve ground my own burgers up a couple times and it’s great. I’ve become a fan of the smash burger technique, and even when not, keeping patty size small. 2 oz for smash and max 4 oz for not, but pile…
For real!
Special shout out to THPS2 for the GBA, though. For what it was, it was amazing.
It was a very short and simple procedure! We all chatted about what shows we are watching and before I knew it things were all done. Now I'm literally chilling on the couch.
Zero lies detected.
I appreciate the heads up!
I have no excuse for my behavior but do not regret my conduct. Thank you for your mercy upon my blighted soul. ; )
Yeah, exactly. I’ve stubbornly tried to stick with some failed experiments in the past, like the time I tried to substitute cream cheese for butter in a frosting, only to find out how much more water cream cheese has in it than butter... But I still iced that cake!
This weekend is the rescheduled vasectomy weekend (happening this afternoon) which means... Mandatory couch time! Already have some curbside pick up fried chicken set up for tomorrow and cookie dough in the freezer for treats, and I'll get chores done today before the procedure, so I'm planning on tackling the gym and…
What Remains of Edith Fitch!
Dang, sorry the melon experiments didn’t fly this time. That cream sounds amazing, though.
The Jeni’s book (and method) is great! We have that one, too. Perfect Scoop is a good one for classic custard base ice creams (the chocolate ice cream is magic) and lots and lots of good toppings.
Yeah, it’s tough to get really water-heavy things like melon into a creamy ice cream. You don’t want to aggressively boil it down, as that would likely ruin the fresh melon flavor. Watermelon might be one you could gently simmer down with some sugar into a thicker syrup, but it might end up super sweet. Other melons…
David Lebovitz has watermelon and cantaloupe sorbet recipes in his Perfect Scoop ice cream book, and a melon granita. Lots of those recipes are on food blogs if you search for them, too, if you don't have that excellent book yet.
We also got celery in the latest csa share, and I used some of it in making an olive salad for caponata, and some more will probably go into fish stew next week. I do like a good crunchy stalk of it from time to time, but it’s never on the top of my list. We also got a couple of really good looking poblano peppers…
Yes, exactly! I used to hop out to a local theater for a movie a few times a month, or I’d hit a few different stores for things as part of a drive, or any number of either productive or relaxing breaks. I’ve mostly come to terms with all that but I the inertia is strong now towards lots of sameness.
I feel like I've discovered new shades of tired in all this. Some very temporary and others that just love to hang around.
Riley! Glad you had a relaxing and productive break.
I need to sell mine as well. Have a handful of dual lands from the revised (4th?) edition and some other random classics from the mid to late 90s. There’s a good game shop in town that sells infiv cards and I see people there playing all the time, and I’d pretty much let them have the whole thing for a song. Though I…
