I, too, would love to see a really good Dune adaptation before I die! This one is probably the last/best chance I’ll get to see, so I’m a little nervous.

A lot of people liked the novel and didn’t care for the David Lynch movie. I’ve been answering surveys about upcoming movies, and every time the movie I’ve listed as the one I’m looking forward to is this.

A lot (really, an awful lot) of people read at least the first book. A fair percentage of that group has been disappointed in previous versions (although teenage Jubal thought Lynch’s, sorry, “Allen Smithee’s” movie was the bees knees), and are hoping for something, well, better.
