It’s all of the best parts of Far Cry and Tomb Raider, with better combat and a much better story.

You’re definitely in for a treat.
I understand the desire- there is a LOT of good anime out there. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, there are a lot of really cool stories. The problem, though, is that Hollywood has no idea how to execute. That’s because a lot of these stories were built specifically for the medium of anime.
The whole reason these companies look to anime is because of the name recognition, but it’s still so obscure for a general audience that it might as well have been a new IP. And the fans of the source material don’t want a live-action version, so you’re not getting them either. It doesn’t make any sense.
“The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”
It’s not irrelevant at all. I think it’s pretty inspiring, truth be told.
I’m about to buy a PS4 for this game. I’ve held out up to this point, but this game makes it impossible to continue to do so.
There is one major design element that display an attention to detail for this game that helps it stand out above the rest, and that is when Ally makes her way down a steep hill. In most video games the characters will walk down steep hills like their on flat ground, but A lot actually moves with the level of the land…
How far have you played? My husband felt the same way until he got out of the Nora area, then he said it was like they cranked it up to 11.
They also bothered to make her move like a kid not just a little adult. She had the stumpy run, and climbs steps on her hands like a kid. Also her kid voice doesn’t just sound line a breathy adult.
I love that you can whistle while you have your bow drawn. Great way to get their attention for a arrow to the face.
I am stunned by how well polished and just amazing Horizon is. The fact that a game that looks like this is actually on a console and is running perfectly is also mind-boggling. It is, without a doubt, the best looking game on any platform.
What about Content sensitive dialogue? Ex. If you do a hunting challenge on gold 1st try, the guy will acknowledge that “ you got as Blazing sun, and on your first try!” (paraphrasing). Or when they ask you for a resource and you already have it, the conversation doesn’t stop. You immediately reply “oh i have those”.
It…
Perhaps Horizon isn’t the first to do this, but I was totally floored the first time I discovered that your mounts will follow a path on their own, without you having to control them. It’s nice to let go of the controls and just ride off to your destination.
I’m already sick of pressing triangle to gather resources and the weapon-wheel can feel a bit finicky. That sort of thing.
Horizon rocks. I am thoroughly enjoying my time with the game. I’ve already spent so many hours just hunting the animals in the game. Great stuff.
While sprinting, hit crouch (square, unless you changed it)
The story is half the game. It’s not a yearly release murderfest like Far Cry. If you wanted mindless killing, this wasn’t the game for you.
Yeah. I feel like they just took a long hard look at open world games and tweaked tiny details that are common annoyances. Some are really hard to put your finger on, but it “feels” much better than any open world game I’ve played before it.
Horizon gets way more of this stuff right than any other huge open world game I’ve played.
