Mario 64DS is also a platformer... and it had some very challenging flying sections way back on the original DS. The 3D effect is just that, a visual effect meant to enhance the gaming experience (not direct it)... I still don't see the problem making Mario fly again.

Actually, the fans have a say. Lucas was bombarded with so much criticism over his new trilogy that he was forced to change them as he was making them, and as a result of him actually listening to fans they gradually got better. Not great but Episode III is almost a good movie.

You have a point but the sleek look of the prequels was intentional to show that everyone was living in a golden age... before the dark times... before the Empire. It wasn't realistic, but it was intended to look Utopian in contrast with what was going to follow.
