Don’t need to tell me why it failed. I’m just making a point in replying to his comment that “The console sells only because of first party software”

So why didn’t the Wii U sell as well when it also had the franchises? First party offerings aren’t the only reason consoles sell well. That’s just the general sales and the fanbase. but when a console reaches super high milestones in adoption rates, it’s more than just first party software.
So you had an iphone, gave it away and then buy a “MID RANGE PHONE” and use that as an example of a crap android phone. riiiiiiight
Your first statement is right on the money (or how much Nintendo lost) with the Wii U, but your second statement is obviously talking out of your butt. Nintendo did everything in their power to keep the Switch from being known up until just 5 or 6 months before it launched.
PS5 consoles are still selling out like crazy (and bots own the shelves). So what’s the point of releasing some blockbuster games to push console sales if the systems don’t even get to sit on the shelves for more than 2 seconds?
Same factor that worked for The Mandalorian with Grogu being unknown and really took it to the extra mile s to keep it secret. Had there been toys being sold before the show released, that baby Yoda bandwagon wouldn’t exist. Did it again with the Season 2 finale. The surprise is really a huge deal and Favreau…
The technical differences isn’t really seen by the common consumer. it’s in the short TD:DR simple terms- Xbox is more powerful, PS is not. What will perform better is which console gets the games. In this case, the exclusive 1st party and 2nd party games. This is why MS has started buying studios again. When the Xbox…
That’s really stretching it there. Sony comments about their product audio tech performing better than another product made by a major sound company that’s been around before you were on diapers. People with a home theater audio setup knows what it takes to run audio. Sony had to make that false comment just like the…
The talk most of the generation with the XB1 vs PS4 always had the Sony consoles being more powerful. Even MS doesn’t want to let Sony have that during any word of mouth exchanges (in addition to price). They look hell bent on screwing Sony over by price too, hence the game of chicken.
Good decision. the launch consoles were made in Japan. anything manufactured after that was moved over to China were reliability wasn’t as good as the launch ones. Mine is still alive and kicking.
Pretty unfair to MS in regards to the game licensing as that was at the request of publishers and third parties. MS will not make that same mistake to cater to them early during a console launch as it is soooo crucial to the life cycle of the system.
Except, you’r comparing a laptop that is sold for profit. MS and Sony sell their consoles at a lost. That’s how they’re designed on every cycle. The money is at software licensing through third party publishers. More games, more licensing for each title that goes to the 1st party company. Only Nintendo is the one…
I am about to say the same thing but then realized it’s Chris Kohler. He hardly posts anything enough so I won’t mind the video.
So how do you explain Gameboy Advance, DS, 3DS and the portables always being viable and selling like hot cakes in the millions when they don’t necessarily acquire the huge AAA games that come out on consoles?
I’m surprised by the numbers. I have been spending the last two weeks trying to upgrade my HTC Vive to a Vive pro. The demand has gone up because everyone is snatching up introverted entertainment. Stuff are selling out and the headsets have gone up in value in the used market. ALL the Valve Index stock and orders are…
