Then the left will have to explain how their policies are suppose to help people, but that is impossible because they don’t. This is the reason identity politics was used in the first place. It’s to avoid actual discussion regarding things like economic issues.

“Those jobs no longer exist.”

Obama’s response to the election is pretty goddamn instructive. Basically, “I didn’t win Iowa because of demographics. I won because I was there for three months, meeting as many people as I could.” If he or she wants to win, the person who challenges in 2020 is going to have be in the close states trump won. In

One party shouldn’t need to respond when the other party claims they’re going to offer ice cream for breakfast. The adults in the room are expected to know better.

Yeah, that was my take on the joke too. Offering a couple of non-traditional choices is one thing, but 37 is ridiculous, because at that point you’re saying gender can’t really be classified at all- so why bother making up 37 categories then? And even if you personally think 37 categories is a good idea, the

All the sales people and managers at the small company I work at are Trump supporters, and one was trying to convince me Trump would do great things for our economy as I was unloading $25k worth of goods off a shipping container from China.

They have a responsibility to win.

I actually thought that it really was one of the reasons why people voted for Trump... we’re really spending time discussing adding a trans gender bathroom at schools now? Well now... all of that’s gone.

Hillary Clinton spent MILLIONS of TV ad dollars....telling me how much Donald Trump sucks as a human being.

I think you guys just refuse to realize that a large portion of America is made up of people who aren’t exposed to any of this and when they hear something like “37 gender identities” they don’t really understand what that even means. There was another sketch in that episode about “the bubble” a fictional community

This is correct. They’re scared, they’re not very well educated and they picked the guy who promised to save their jobs and towns (since in much of small town America, the job IS the town) over the woman who said “your industry is dying; we have to evolve.” Assuming, you know, she even decided to visit them at all.

How about the places that voted for Obama but then voted Trump? Can we get over the hyperbole when talking about those places?

Yeah, her pitch was more of Obama’s economic policies which weren’t working re: income inequality.

If only the Democrats had someone who wanted to be their party’s candidate for the presidency who was able to garner support from these people and was willing to speak truth to power!

The term “racist” is thrown around so frequently, that it allowed people to laugh off claims of Trump’s actual racism during the campaign.

Lol, the people who voted for Obama twice are the same people who swung the vote for Trump. You aren’t catering to the worst of the Republican birther crowd. You should be catering to the people who aren’t racist, but want to hear about jobs, the economy, and how they will benefit.

Because the make up half the country. And if you want to actually be in power so that you can help the minorities rather than have the republicans step on them with their jackboots, you’ll need to get some of the racists on your side.

“Trump supporters voted because of jobs, not racism, sexism, homophobia!”
“Cool, so we can keep supporting the marginalized/calling out racism, sexism and homophobia, while supporting economic development in rural communities?”

“Jost is saying that liberals should deemphasize equal rights for all people because it alienates rednecks.”

it was a good joke
