This is the equivalent of trading in a 16 year old Toyota pick-up truck for a previously returned Power Wheels Jeep from Toys R Us.
I’ve fucking had it up to here with all the people looking around incredulously, pretending to be stupefied that the word “Pocahontas” is now somehow off-limits. It’s not the word itself, you nitwits, and you damn well know it.
And it’s also scary because it makes us wonder what “bad” things in our own thinking are just sitting there, unacknowledged, because we think of them as “just reality” or “how things are.”
My dad and step-mom were complaining about the “witch hunt” and my step-mom (who teaches music) was talking about how her male peers are all so terrified of being accused of something and how hard this is on them.
Don’t know how old you are, I am old old and not the least bit surprised that women from my parents & grandparents generation are not sensitive to the reality of what women put up with today.

If it’s any consolation everyone is always jealous of the friend that moves abroad to “find themselves”. And ya know what, knowing yourself is important! As long as you don’t become totally self centered in the process. So, you do you.
I don’t understand. That story was written as though there are Dunkin Donuts toilets that are not clogged.
Is it true un-promoted commenters can go but not mingle (or make direct eye contact) with Deadspin staff?
Well that was NEARLY refreshing. Seeing a dude own his shit is so rare. I feel DIZZY.
And here comes the cognitive dissonance. On the one hand, everybody knows that he’s generally a thoughtful person (in the sense that he thinks about stuff on multiple levels), and we also know that he’s a strong and insightful writer. So it’s really no surprise in that sense that he was able to craft what may be one…
“a very regrettable dispute between two neighbors over a matter that most people would regard as trivial,”
