Why is it an industry-wide trend?  Why do all of these companies post record profits and then lay off the workers?  Why did they overhire during the pandemic?

contract workers are not counted in these layoff numbers.  these were all staff members, including the entire internal customer support team at ABK.

and it also verifies that the system of capitalism cares more about profits over people, so while this company is “doing well” according to the standards of capitalism, it is not doing well at all.
