That’s the thing here - you’d like to think you were smart enough - not good enough. These guys are idiots. I had a ton of friends who were stupid and said these things in public not because they were worse than I was, they were just dumber.

At the risk of sounding like one of those people...THIS.

I would have gone pro had I not been screwed by genetics and an overall lack of effort and fortitude.

Wait..you dedicated practice time at all? Who practices for rec sports?!

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Alabama in the middle.”

There’s no difference. And, that’s actually not the point of the article, nor the article that this article is about. Correct me if I’m wrong (but do it from far away because I don’t want to catch any cooties), but the point of the article is that nobody thinks the ESPY’s or ESPN as a whole is a scam. The disagreement

Yea maybe. Or maybe you’re trying to lump reporting on production and distribution deals or script attachments in with who so and so was recently having an affair with.

I have never heard the trades referred to as trash except for maybe a pissed off agent.

It’s not correct, but also not worth engaging. If you go through their posts on these threads, it’s clearly them who thinks their hobby is superior.

Sports are objective - movies are subjective. Hamstrings of athletes directly impact what will happen - red carpet gossip won’t impact what the best movie is (neither does the Best Picture award). That’s what I said. I like the Oscars too.

The biggest relation is that they’re distractions. Pointless? Probably. But totally worth it.

And by your handle. Nobody proves sports media criticism quite as good as Joe Buck.

Rich irony for that guy but it’s also not the same. The Oscar goes to which movie/performer a group of people vote for. Whether the Broncos/Colts/Vols win is determined by whether the Broncos/Colts/Vols win. Peyton Manning’s hamstring has a direct impact on that. Now, if that guy was concerned about Peyton’s sex life,

I guess I see your point. I’m not sure how we’d measure which criticism gets bandied about more - your experience has not been mine. But we all have our experiences and biases.

I’m all for calling Brady a Kardashian, but I’m not sure the TV ratings for Kardashian provide quite the same accountability that Brady has to face every Sunday. Sports keep you honest. You can only create, drive and sell a narrative until kickoff. But who knows, I don’t watch the Kardashians - maybe Scott Disick is a

ESPN gets lambasted for its obsession with LeBron with comments on how it’s because he and the NBA are a big cash cow for them.

I’m sure this article will get quite a few responses like “YES. THIS.” but really, half of sports media is criticizing other sports media.

As Seinfeld said 20 years ago “flushed out of the bottom of the porn industry.”

“We” is often used in situations where it does not include everybody in the world, particularly curmudgeons who don’t like what everyone else likes.

Whether corporations are people is actually completely irrelevant with regards to the First Amendment.
