I know Fred Berry, I have served on boards with Fred Berry. We do not get along. He is a blatant racist and sexist who attempted to use my daughters to prove that he was not a racist when they were young. Even my children cannot stand Fred Berry.

Yep, Howard is the pick right now. We have family in DC, and they have a six year BA/MD program. I am taking her out to see it in a few weeks. She is just a little nervous about the size of the school.

That is very sweet, and like I said, I am a Phi as well. At this point, I think it has gone to the side for a few reasons, one of which is that she wants a smaller college experience as she is a big performer, but plans to go into the sciences and wants to still have the chance to act and dance for the next few years.

Honestly, I would love for you to spend an hour on the phone with her if she ever wavers. She likes to joke that she is just a “basic white girl” in her Uggs and her Vera Bradley bag, but she knows better. She is a wonderful and strong black woman and she doesn’t suffer fools well. I really hope that heading toward an HBCU — though she refuses to move below the Mason/Dixon line for it — will give her a chance to have a more well rounded

Aah, Berkeley... still her #1 choice, though she knows that it is more difficult to get into than an Ivy and more expensive (for out of state tuition) than our house. That is the dream for my daughter that will never be able to make happen. I pushed her toward Stanford... but it didn’t seem to take.

I am an Alpha Phi from the 90’s from a huge Midwestern school with a large greek presence. My daughter will not be pledging when she goes to college next year. Honestly, I am afraid that she would not be taken into a house these days. She has a 3.9, is graduating high school with her freshman year of college
