Imagine shoving yourself into a leather- and Alcantara-lined pneumatic capsule and being sucked into the horizon. But with less wind noise. It's brutal and punishing and I'm surprised Tesla doesn't require a doctor's note and a disclaimer every time someone selects Insane on the carputer.

A transmission would add cost, weight, and complexity while reducing efficiency, and would only add any appeal to a small minority of prospective buyers. I think that's where you and I disagree.
I might not understand this well... but why the Salem 416 had a different gear ratio or why those Formula E cars have 4 gears trans?....
Would you please ask your new overlords @Tesla if they will ever considered adding one (or two) CVT trans to enable the car to stay at the top engine torque for longer and also to enable a higher top speed..... air resistance = energy waste be dammed!
