The last car they made that fit your criteria, I think, was the Juke. Polarizing for sure, but it found enough of a niche and brought enough attention to the brand that it mattered. It’s replacement, Kicks, couldn’t be blander.

Calling slight BS. We have a CVT in my wife’s 4g Outback. All received 100K/10y transmission warranty extensions. Either your friend was towing or did not know how to navigate SoA. Next, the *new* transmission is 7K, but you can get a low mileage used one for less than 3K including install. Still, these are not Nissan

Those people dont have to worry about cooling in all possible driving conditions and crash testing. Toyota does. What the aftermarket can manage to do has about zero impact on what a manufacturer actually produces.
