Some people just hate everything related to James Hurley, I think. I wasn't crazy about his character, and the James/Donna storyline wasn't very compelling in my opinion, but that original scene was, as far as I'm concerned, super important and really well done. And terrifying.

Audrey's reflection almost looked to me like a doll-version of Audrey in a case.

Well, it could be argued they had nothing to say in the first place.

Good call on the Fellini evocation!
And while I was watching the gym set scene I kept thinking how sweet it was watching the kid have a ball playing, but how creepy the repeating motif from from Swan Lake was, especially for a kids' toy.

I'm going to have to pay close attention on rewatch, but for the time being, I'm going to respectfully disagree. Lynch doesn't really do coincidence.

Another thing that I just remembered, when Renzo suckerpunches Mr. C in the back of the head, he says "That's for the nursery school teacher". So did that nasty little weasel Richard tell the Farm gang that it was Dark Coop who attacked Miriam? Did he also claim DC ram over and killed the little boy? And if so, why?

Richard Horne emerges from the rear of the frame. Reaction in my living room: "Ohhhhh shit"

It's definitely odd how the scene was blocked, even though she was super pissed off during her argument with Charlie she stayed rooted to one spot instead of getting in his face like one might expect.

That seems like a very plausible reading of the scene. Fenn was also in that Boxing Helena movie back in the 90s that Lynch's daughter directed. There've been a lot of little easter eggs throughout the Return. But really, I think by now we've all (hopefully) figured out that we're not going to know what's going on

I don't think they necessarily have to be inhabiting multiple bodies a la Mr. C, Leland didn't have multiple physical manifestations for example. Just a random stoned musing on my part anyway, I don't much care if I'm right, I'm just enjoying the opportunity to spend time with these characters again.

Hmm indeed. Good call!

Both the shots of the ceiling fan were creepy as hell! Almost sorta makes me glad the ceiling fan in my bedroom doesn't work.

I still don't think I did any of that, but it's all good.

Let's rock.

On my rewatch of Ep. 12 I'm finding it very plausible that there are two Dianes, based on what other people have pointed out about different outfits in a single episode (though that wouldn't surprise me from Diane as we currently know the character).
I really really hate the idea of Diane being evil and working for Mr.

Ok, she's very clearly standing from the moment the scene opens. So much for that theory, ha!

Projecting? Where in my statement did you get that notion from?
And I've found many elements of The Return very gratifying, e.g., all of the touching and bittersweet scenes with Miguel Ferrer, Catherine Coulson and Frost. So clearly I don't know what you mean by "fan service".

Amen. Settle in and enjoy the ride.
Have I loved everything about the show so far? Nah. But Lynch and Frost know what they're doing and I trust them. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay.

Agree 100%!
