Lots of great debate in the comments section here about what the best scenes are in Winter Soldier. But I’d like to take this opportunity to add that this movie had hands down the best trailer of any Marvel movie.
Winter Soldier is such a taut geopolitical thriller that you forget that it’s a comic book movie. So when the Big Villainous plan is Comics 101 (“I’m going to put THREE really big GUNS in the AIR! Bwaahahahaha!”) it causes a bit of cognitive dissonance.
Agreed. WS is my favorite Marvel movie of them all, even though all the ones done by the Russo’s are great. WS feels like a 70's thriller. In fact, if you took all the superhero-ing out of the movie, it’d still be a great action flick IMO.

The cool thing about the elevator fight is knowing Cap could have ended the fight much sooner by just punching those dudes hard enough to kill them...but he chose not to because he’s a hero and uses his strength responsibly.

He’s super-strong in the movies, so it’s really no big deal to punch out a bunch of regular dudes or even go one-on-one with a trained killer (Bartroc). I thought his super-ness came across enough in his first outing. He was punching guys into walls, doing some crazy acrobatics, etc. But he had his team most of the time, and behind that the whole US Army backing him up, so he knew and we knew he was clearly on the “side of right.”
