The skid community sold the Y/Z as an "upgrade" rather than as new platform builds so on paper it looked more economical. In reality the only thing saved from the old N/W is the buno plate.

I suspect those parents don't let their kids eat at Top Dog either. Poor kids miss out.
I don't know the specifics of this incident. It is apparently an external of an Army Chinook in OEF. External loads that start to pendulum can cause the helo to crash so the crew chief can pickle the load if required. That's probably what happened there.
WTIs are really an amazing effort. The aircraft and Marines are globally sourced from every MAW. It's a nightmare temp transferring the aircraft, screening logbooks, ADBs, maintainers and Supply from all different sqdns mashed together and working 12 on 12 off so the pilots can get their Xs. but somehow they pull it…

Pay up your insurance.
You have to sit in a lot of closes door sessions of the Marine Air Board and other 3 star meetings to make sense of it. My dad is a depression era baby. The first time he took me skiing in the early 80s he busted out his wooden skis he used in the 50s and brought them to Big Bear. He asked the pro shop for boot laces and they looked at him like he was crazy. Then they saw his skis...he did fine with them on the bunny slope and no…
I'd like to see more of his Man Lab or Top Toys!
The Asian population in La Guardia's time was actually quite small due to the Chinese Exclusion Act and was probably majority Chinese who are not fans of pachinko unlike the Japanese. I've no doubt there was gambling run by the Tongs in Chinatown but it was probably higher stakes and more profitable games like poker…
The Army will have a lot to deal with corrosion wise should they try to do it on a more than occasional basis. Plus not having blade fold etc is a challenge.
Right now they are forcing people to retire who get passed over twice. So o6's don't go to 30 they retire at 28 years service. They're trying to squeeze out all the top heavy senior guys.
