Black people are nominated for Oscars at a rate of about 15% of nominations (and win 17%). Black people make up 13% of the population. So what’s the problem again? People seem to have forgotten that black people are a minority...it will never be 50/50, why should it?

No snark or willful ignorance here but aren’t there tons of black people in music and entertainment? For a group that’s 12%-15% of the total population, it seems as if there are many black people in the movies, on television and in music- or, perhaps those are just the movies and shows I happen to watch. I do mostly

I think they just meant having to take a sick day or something. I don’t disagree with your point, btw.

I have to agree with you on this. I remember calling in once in my very blue collar job because we had no daycare for a day. My boss was like where’s your wife she can’t miss work. Part of me was like “no you asshole I have vacation days she doesn’t fuckwad”.

God damn man, only you would say some shit like this.

Just wait for it. She’ll be suggesting she was merely employing sarcasm any second now.

Tell me, why do folks feel the need to add “have a great day!” after calling other people names and trashing their opinions? You’re not the only person who does this, but I am genuinely curious as to why it’s done at all.

All your credibility went out the window at the mention of Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Systematic racism against whites isn’t a thing but a person can be racist towards whites.

This post isn’t serious I hope. You trolling everyone, right?

God, THANK YOU. Where TF did this new definition come from? I agree that, say, “oppression” requires power. But black people who hate white people are racist. Korean people who hate black people are racist. Mexican people who hate Jews are racist.

It’s certainly the case that systemic racism by a ruling class is more harmful, but acting like people correctly using a word by it’s accepted definition are being stupid is pretty disingenuous to me.

here’s some books. racism doesn’t have to be institutionalized to exist. idiot.

I think this response sums it all.

Nah, I’m a black woman and I’ve never bought into that. I get the arguments behind it. I understand why that needs to be focus. Racism is prejudice and bigotry based on skin color. What you are describing is systemic racism, of which there is no systemic racism against white people. Systemic racism is the racism that

Yo, drag this ole prune. GET HER!

“racism is prejudice PLUS institutional power” That’s a ridiculous contrived definition to cover social justice hypocrisy. Racism is racism, regardless of the identities involved on either side.

I have to admire the whole “predjudice plus power” argument. As long as you keep using that definition, it allows people to use almost any level of racial hate, and still convince themselves that they are innocent of racism.

I don’t think Michael Caine’s statements were outrageous. Lee Daniels has also publicly stated that the work has to be there. It’s a similar debate to voting for/requiring mandates on business boards or in parliaments of women simply because they are women. In actuality, there is a huge problem with minority

Watching that last night, it was really weird how aggressively Natalie (who it should be noted, was not on the same team as Rocker and had no current interest in the tribal council Rocker was headed to) went after him (the clips above show a bit, but it was much more uncomfortable than that). He was still an ass, but
