I didn't say they were. But since the software for this device is still in development it is likely that the display driver also isn't finished. They could be up-sizing a lower res image to fit the screen. Or the resolution the graphics chipset is outputting might not be the correct size or aspect ration for the

@blackdahlia: love the Chat Pad! I wouldn't reply to anyone on XBL if I didn't have one. :)

" It even, as was the fashion of time in PC land, was hoped that games would make use of "templates", pieces of paper that would be laid over the pad to show users what each button did in that particular game.

Just because the hardware ultimately determines the maximum resolution and brightness doesn't mean that the software is displaying content at either.

Software could very easily effect the clarity and brightness of the display. How could you think otherwise?

@Diode: Compression such as the compression that occurs during the formation of a planetary body, generates heat.

heh :)

Too much thinness doesn't improve your experience though. The iPhone 3G was plenty thin enough. And phones like the HTC Desire and Incredible are plenty thin enough.

All I can say is that I am glad I can view Gawker sites in the old layout using ca.kotaku.com (or whatever page you want to see, gizmodo, gawker, lifehacker etc).

Why is phone-thinness such an important selling feature?

Well I have tons of music as well and most of it was not purchased.....err from iTunes either :)

I have found the best way to apply a screen protector is to first run the screen protector through a bowl of warm soapy water.

There are actually plenty of other legal sources to buy music, such as Amazon MP3. It is just that iTunes is the most popular right now because it was one of the first major MP3 stores, and is irrevocably tied to the incredibly popular iPod, iPhone and iPad platforms.

@dcdean1: How would carriers know?

I doubt Sony will actually pull their catalog from iTunes. It is possible, but Sony would have to accept the massive loss of revenue that would come with leaving what is the worlds most popular and pervasive online music store.

Most IMAX theaters are now using the same type of polarized lenses that regular theaters use with their 3D movies in. They just have a different headband that is all one piece instead of looking like the retro-nerd glasses that most regular theaters seem to prefer.

Like the article says, maybe a movie that you really want to see is only shown in 3D at theaters near your home. If you really were looking forward to seeing a movie in the theater, a few bucks more for a ticket price probably won't stop you.

I guess they would rather just have the company go out of business instead of just change direction. Walk out or force the company into the ground, either way its a job lost.
