Well, they probably weren’t going to make Guy Gardner the colossal(ly entertaining) right-wing macho jerk that is my favorite version of the character, from the Giffen/DeMatteis run of Justice League International, so I’m fine with it.

Agreed, and I’ve been a Henry Cavill fan since his days of playing Charles Brandon in The Tudors. He definitely has it in him to deliver a Kal-El worthy of the name, they just need to write him a proper script.

Where, indeed, was Firefly?

Guy rides a dragon around, you’re gonna need a helluva prom-posal there.

A local place near me styles this sandwich their “ultimate” grilled cheese, and I’ve had it more than once. It’s worth noting that the marinara dipping sauce absolutely makes this dish, adding a welcome zestiness to what quickly cools into a dense, spongy mass with no crunch whatsoever.

There’s an MST3K channel on Pluto TV, the free (i.e. ad-supported) streaming app. (And a RiffTrax channel!) That’s pretty much the same experience as reruns on Comedy Central, if anybody is really missing that.

Warrior, late of Cinemax and now of HBO Max, may not exactly be a Western (set in 1870s Chinatown/San Francisco, it has many Western elements, along with wu xia elements) but it is chock-a-block with Chinese immigrant characters with names and backstories. Worth catching if you haven’t seen it!

It sometimes blows my mind that David Pasquesi played both a gentle, idealistic seeker of truth on Lodge 49 and Selina Meyer’s shitbag grifter of an ex-husband on Veep. Mr. Immortal somehow lands between the two, a bit closer to Andrew Meyer.

There are a lot of American weddings that are that bad, yes, but it will usually be only one of those awful elements rather than all of them combined. I think Lulu’s change of temper had to do with two main things: a) the wedding was over, and even the most uptight bride tends to unclench a bit at that point; and b)

She was also very good in The Last O.G.

I think the only notice I’ve taken beyond that is that he used to team up with Frank Caliendo to do skits on FOX NFL Sunday, back a decade-plus ago. Here’s an example, with Frank donning blackface (and a reasonable imitation of the voice) to portray Sir Charles Barkley, and Aries Spears crossing his eyes to portray

ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER, motherfucker.

Except the Berlantiverse shows, which are dismissed and overlooked now but (IMO) were a lot of fun when they were operating at peak performance a few years ago, and even pulled off Crisis on Infinite Earths in a satisfying way.

I have to say that the original Nacho Fries ad campaign with Josh Duhamel was pure genius, though. I am a sucker for a well-executed parody (and fried potatoes topped with just about anything) and this one ticked all the boxes:

I tend to agree with this. Bader is better in Batman’s more comedic modes (as is Will Arnett, playing LEGO Batman), but for more serious work you really need Kevin Conroy or the equivalent. Michael Keaton is probably the best at handling both at the same time — he’s soulful enough to carry the drama, but also knows

I’ve also got a soft spot for Netflix’s Marco Polo, which starts slow but picks up quickly when it starts de-centering the title character and focusing more on Benedict Wong’s Kublai Khan and his court. Wong is magnetic in the role.

And Dave Nelson on Newsradio, for that matter.

I loved her as Simka Gravas on Taxi; the episode where she meets Latka’s mother to get her blessing before they got married is one of my favorites.

As somebody who has never seen Training Day and also avoided the F&Franchise, her biggest roles in my world were in Ghost Rider and The Spirit; neither movie has a great reputation (although I liked the latter a lot more than the former) and I can see why having to fight your way into roles like that would get
