Good. Britain did same thing, and gun violence here is exceptionally rare. Which is how I like it. I don’t understand America’s obsession with guns, I just don’t.

I’m genuinely shocked by this. Harming animals as a child is an indicator of sadistic and psychopathic tendencies - bragging about such activities should automatically disqualify someone from holding any position of power in any situation, let alone one that involves the use of weapons. I mean this with all due

I can only go by what I’ve seen with US police, and most of my family were cops. And they were ALL like this. When he had an interview to go into the police, he told them how he used to like to tear the legs off animals as a child. He passed his psych eval with flying colours - and it obviously didn’t bother them

Moved from the square Trump-territory states to the UK just to get away from those wretched people. And I’ll never go back if I can help it!

We might be related - though I’ve not been in touch with these people for a couple decades, so if there was one other ‘bad apple’ in the family who found racism reprehensible, I wouldn’t have heard about it. Do you have a cousin that everyone hates cos they don’t tolerate racism? Could be me.

Thanks mate. I moved to another country just to be sure!

Most of my family is like this uncle, so I avoid all of them, parents included. They avoid me as well, because I am a liberal and will not accept racism of any kind. Which works just as well for me.

I think the problem is much worse than just ‘low standards’ - I think the psych evals are specifically created to select the people who have a desire to control others, a sadistic affection for violence, and ‘good ol’ boys’ attitudes towards race and gender. I come from a family of cops - they are ALL like this. They

My uncle (I haven’t spoken to him in decades because he’s a wretched, racist, horrible monster) was a deputy sheriff in US. He beat a black 17 year old into a coma ‘because he was bored’, to hear him tell of it.

The US legal system is designed to prop up sadistic sociopaths with guns and badges, and rewards them when they use them against others.

I’m not even a jalopnik regular, but I’d much rather a nice neighbour who fixes cars in his spare time as a kindness to other people than religious arseholes screaming at someone who wants to help people.

Agree and enjoyed this entire discussion, my new friend. Hope for further chats! Be well.

And here’s evidence of exactly what I’ve been saying all along: although I admire an attempt to actually discuss eating disorders, these kinds of films with beautiful people only serve to glamourise it.

Hey, a man has come out and said Depp abused Heard - maybe now people will be more likely to believe it. 😒

And I can completely see how no matter what the intention, the optics alone make it glamorous....I think as the years go on, that I think about whether or not it would be exploitative enters into the equation.

First, let me thank you for your very respectful and kind response. You showed great thoughtfulness, and I would like to thank you for that - it’s a wonderful and rare thing on message boards sometimes! So thank you for that, I genuinely was shocked at the kindness and respect you’ve shown.

It was very personal to Tracey Gold in a variety of anorexia/bulimia movies I saw growing up, and actually it just taught me how to hide my eating disorders better.

Oh honey, I feel your pain. Also a former child model here, anorexia was basically a way of life for years. Agree with all you’ve said. Hope you’re doing okay.

Actually, you want to know what made my eating disorder worse as a kid? Watching Tracey Gold in For the Love of Nancy. Like this it was made by a former anorexic/bulimic in order to show the dangers of eating disorders All it did was give me goals for how I wanted to look and ideas on how to get away with it in front

Agreed. I think all this does in the end is glamourise it. And I say this as someone who has dealt with all of this in the past.
