My ex worked with high-powered lasers for the Air Force. He often did demonstrations for the NASA ‘eggheads’ he worked with (i.e., scientists who could do advanced mathematical formulas in their heads but occasionally forgot their shoes). He would show them how the lasers could cut through several feet of steel, and

I’m not even a jalopnik regular, but I’d much rather a nice neighbour who fixes cars in his spare time as a kindness to other people than religious arseholes screaming at someone who wants to help people.

Yeah, normally I agree with your posts, Rob, but no. Dinosaurs was glorious. It was a beautiful satire on humans.

That sentence is 1) 99.99 % sarcasm, and 2) has been taken out of context of the rest of the reply which stated that the great thing about DW is that people can come and go as they please and stop watching when they want, take it back up when they want, and still be fans.

You are looking for a fight and I’m not going to give it to you.

You clearly did not read the rest of the comment, friend. Go back and reread the comment in full and then feel shamed that you tried that shit with me.

Honestly I didn’t even list most of his bad episodes. There are dozens more - out of the 60+ he’s written, I think only 6 are excellent. And they’re all in RTD’s run - I wonder now how much of that was RTD re-writing them as producer to work within the show because so many of them were so very, very bad after.

Then they should kind of just cancel DW cos I haven’t enjoyed an episode in years. I genuinely cannot remember an episode I’ve enjoyed since Donna was a regular companion. Possibly Turn Left? I think that was the last episode I enjoyed full stop. Wait - I did enjoy the Van Gogh episode despite my disdain for Amy and

Finales have always been a problem for New Who. But in absolute honesty, I can’t remember the last episode of Moffat’s I actually enjoyed was Forest of the Dead.

Writing episodes like Blink? Absolutely on board with when Chibnall takes over.

Robot face is a bit Cybermanesque, no?

Moffat is a generally a good writer but a dreadful show runner. He gave us Empty Child/Dr Dances, Girl in Fireplace, Blink, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead - and I love all of those. RTD was a dreadful writer but I enjoyed his show running more.

It’s such a shame, honestly. Capaldi is exactly the Doctor I’ve wanted since I got quite fed up with Tennant. Capaldi was perfectly cast, and I adore him - he is exactly who I wanted in terms of character and personality.

I wouldn’t say worse, no... but on par. They were both dreadful at finales.

Yeahhh- Although I prefer RTDs reign to Moffat by a very large percentage, and am more than happy to talk about how much I cannot stand Moffat, one thing they both have in common is their obsessions with resets, deus ex machinas and ‘I’ve set up something so clever, who cares if it doesn’t even make sense! because

Buzz Aldrin is all of us.

Agreed on all counts! Honestly that’s why I was always so frustrated with the obsession TNG had for resetting at the end for everything to be fine. You have one of the finest actors in the world and you could do anything with him, and in a lot of ways he’s wasted.

It was such a tragically bad movie, I absolutely loathe it.

*snort* Fair enough! 😂
