I’m not sure about that Mercury. Do the headlights actually move or are they merely hidden? The Isuzu and Lincoln in the lists aren’t pop-ups.

That would be the right swap, but I’d look into an 2.3 Ecoboost.

The only hard part about wiring these old cars is getting enough variety in wire colors/gauges. That takes care of that.

I agree, but still better than a Lexus.

This is one that should have been on this list. I was going to nominate it but no one pays attention to us grays.

Not my thing, but a car worth owning for the right buyer. ASC has a long history with Detroit and you can bet this car was done right. With that said, I think the price is too high. However GM cars from that era tend to get absurd prices and this isn’t out of line. Nice Price.

I tend to vote along the “if I was into it” camp. I still noped. Underlying car value is at best $10k. Similar vintage examples are selling in the $10k-15k range with less than half the miles. Is there $16k of value add here? Not even close.

What’s next? Zip ties?

It was kind of a mess. The original Rolls-Royce car builder’s successor in interest is Bentley Motors Limited division of Volkswagen AG. Vickers owned Rolls-Royce Motors and put it up for sale in 1998. BMW was the expected buyer as then already supplied engines and other parts to RR, but BMW was outbid by VW. VW

141k miles, smaller engine, but does have manual. $8500 price is high, but maybe Nice Price in this market.

I’ve been using the orange Rain-X stuff for a decade and almost all my cars have had float style level sensors. I have never had an issue.

Is it a lie when everyone knows you’re lying and you know everyone knows?

It’s a nice price but it definitely isn’t for everyone. Pretty much any car of this age/mileage, not just BMWs, are going to have significant faults. And if you aren’t a DIY kind of person either you’ll drive the car into the ground, or you will run big expenses. Now if you are that DIY person, there is a huge amount

Although the Plum Crazy Challenger is the hands down winner, the Techno Violet BMW M3 is a worthy also ran.

And don’t forget internal corrosion causing a short between the circuits.

I don’t follow the details but I know it’s days are numbered. I grew up there. I still have many friends in the area and keep tabs on what’s going on. I know change is inevitable, but one more trip there would be welcome and delicious.

Sorry to hear about that David. I’m also glad no one was hurt and that Hunter House is still there. Hopefully it still will be when I’m back there next this summer. I hope you got fries too.

Apparently, it’s a Hommel Berlinette circa 2000.

If I had $25k + at least another $10k to fix that Alpina up, I’d be booking a trip to Seattle right now. Much of it looks like nickel and dime stuff, but it did drive over something. It’s scraped all over in the under body shots.

It’s definitely a case of diminishing returns. The Xenon (HID) adaptive headlights are far beyond the standard halogens in capability. We recently bought an ‘08 X3 for my son and adaptive headlights was a mandatory feature for us. The modern adaptive LED headlights are certainly more capable, but they’re mostly
