On one of those NPR podcasts they did a whole show on this. Facts will change nothing, and you have to make the other person FEEL for you.

So I also have a close friend who voted third party, and now also complaining about a looming Trump presidency. My first reaction was, hey you have no right to complain about anything! Their reasoning is that they voted 3rd party in a solid blue state, and that they would have voted for Clinton in a swing state.
