You are conflating ongoing treatment with restriction on the initial prescription. For a NEW prescription, no more than seven day supply. If you need more than that, then a SECOND Rx will need to be sent. It is not “at the expense of those in most need of care.” And, for acute pain or after surgery, 7 days of opioids…
