Yeah I’m reading all this like “ but women that age CAN have kids”.
Yeah I’m reading all this like “ but women that age CAN have kids”.
Of course they could and I’m sure they could also pony up and pay off my debt - but an NYC apartment without a dishwasher is not an insult, it’s normal. Having to go through a side door is the crime here.
My thoughts on that were that I’ve never paid rent that low in NYC in the last 20 years and I’ve never had a dishwasher either. Just a couple years ago I bought a portable one which works off my kitchen faucet, and she is free to do the same. But all that said poor doors are total horseshit.
That is funny. My mom hilariously would always tell us that lying to her was worse than murder, so I had a real hang up about it. But I had to lie to her to survive, which caused me so much guilt until I realized that some people force you to lie, but you can be the type of person who doesn’t put that kind of pressure…
I think it’s a combination. I think that as the lie evolves, they justify the lie. Like if it’s a fake affair they made up that their husband had, they’ll tell themselves “well telling everyone he cheated on me is fair because of how much he flirted and how inadequate he made me feel all those years” regardless of how…
Oy the hardest part of spending time with my mother is listening to her latest versions of why everyone else won’t speak to her. God it’s disgusting. Thank god I can just bite my tongue and change the subject.
Yeah I’m sure she had NO IDEA of that before they got married and had a kid and I’m also sure she had NOTHING in common with him. wtf
I read all of that too and thought oh man, he’s guilty. But then I read that his brother also requested halbach from auto trader, has a sketchy alibi, and has sexual assault priors. So I gave it some thought and in response I’d say: the DNA on the car is all suspect, even this sweat they supposedly found, since they…
Yeah it was a pretty straightforward compliment and she was clearly the initiator of that topic of conversation.
Yeah this seems like the right spot for that “contributing to the delinquence of a minor” charge.
The time it takes to shift the infrastructure to accommodate these changes makes the point moot. We need faster changes, and we can do that by phasing out meat production a lot more simply and painlessly than by this idiotic proposal.
I’m already vegan but totally with you there. To say nothing of the fact that being forced to rely on the government for transportation is something of an ENORMOUS public safety issue. God what a ridiculous and self-serving argument.
Thank you. I love how this person advocates for a shift that would be so difficult to do, that a) the public would never support it and b) even if they did, it would take decades if not generations to accomplish i.e. not fast enough to make a difference in the race against climate disasters, when meanwhile if we had…
Way easier than that: eliminate meat production.
Right? She should be arguing against meat production if it’s the environment she cares about.
Yeah my mom would call all the time, even like at 3am, when the phone was right next to my roommate’s head. If she would have written a letter, she def would have left that little detail out.
Yeah that’s definitely true. If this woman can’t respect her daughters need for space under these circumstances, it doesn’t bode well for the relationship. 18 year olds may be adults under the law but they are actually just kids.
Well said and let’s not forget that with parents like this the daughter probably did not feel as though she had much of a choice as to whether or not she should go to college, or where - so while she is quite lucky she may not feel that way at the moment. The mom is quick to mention that she is paying for school but…
If what we are supposed to do is just give her the benefit of every doubt, what’s the point discussing it, or even reading an advice column in the first place? Her question is full of red flags that betray a person who is struggling with petty anger issues with a daughter who is going through what is natural for an 18…
Yeah that’s what this is about.
