Yup. His demands make it sound like being a woman is about feminine gender displays. Being a woman is not about dresses or hair. At least, it didn't used to be.

So, how much of gender dysphoria has to be addressed with physical changes, and how much can be done with mental conditioning/treatment? Because I think she can work on accepting that women can have short hair. The hair thing sounds more like a pissing match than a medically necessary treatment, quite frankly.

Such a policy would be unfair to women prisoners

Problem is, some people are going to have a very hard time setting aside whether or not she is a traitor. Especially now that Wikileaks looks to be an active agent of a hostile foreign government.

Right or wrong, prisoners are guaranteed a right to healthcare, but only the bare minimum. Cancer patients are given medicine to deal with the effects of their illness but not to try to reverse it for example. This is the standard for all US prisoners.

Sadly, she’s not sympathetic enough to garner the attention needed for change.

Dude - I feel like it might be the opposite. Which makes me feel weird and sad, and also kinda fascinated. Ira is a stranger guy than he likes to make out.

Humperdinck?

Even more so than the fact that mah man Jay Christ is getting a beejer?

My parents have stayed together despite being out of love for many years (I’m guessing they stayed together for cultural reasons/habit/financial reasons). But I totally believe divorce would have been such a better option for everybody. So yay for divorce!!

The 1920's has always been a historical period that interested me, but most of the films about it seem to involve gangsters in some way. What does a gal have to do to get a good Scott and Zelda Fitgerald biopic? I'm too damn busy to write it myself.

Can you still hump Death, though?

I’m kind of intrigued by the woman who insisted her Jim Morrison shirt stays on.

Yep. Men, traditionally, get a FAR better deal out of marriage than women do.

My parents are still together but I’m pretty sure it’s because my dad is either at work or in his garden and will be until he dies.

Sure, in those cases it makes perfect sense. But my parent was widowed very very young and had a happy marriage before that. Forgoing dating / sex / a partnership for potentially more than half a lifetime out of loyalty to the spouse you lost IS heartbreaking, and those are the cases I was thinking of.

My folks just hit their 50th anniversary. They communicate by bickering. Lots and lots of bickering. And yelling. Like, so much bickering and yelling that as a kid I wished they’d just split up so I could get a moment’s peace.

I think that sometimes the parent left behind is just DONE with all that shit, and they live a happy widow/widowerhood without worrying about dating, sex and the rest of it. Honestly, I think a fair amount of women from the “greatest generation” were more than happy to see their husbands kick it, because they lived in

One of mine died and the other was, like, “Nah, I’m done, thanks.” and didn’t have another relationship, date, or even try to have sex with another person, until they died.

My parents stayed together in love until the day they each died.
