Nor would it have the electronic warfare systems that, while not much talked about, are really the revolutionary capability that the F-35 will bring. Nor will it have the internal weapons bay that truly provides stealth during the first days of combat, when the objective is first to take down an enemy integrated…
Well, you’re right. But if you’re looking for a basic carrier or land based jet with highly advanced sensors and weapons capabilities and low observability, the Silent Hornet is a decent choice.
So who is making money off Trumps tweets?
No you see, what you do is buy that and then just say it’s comparable until everyone starts believing it.
Bad faith breaches are absolutely a thing and exactly how one would assert the “spirit” of the Consent Decree is being breached. It may not be living document in that it’s not subject to change, but it’s absolutely a living document in that it’s subject to the bad faith acts of the parties to it.
It doesn’t seem to incorporate the best features of a solar roadway, like self-sufficient heat for minimal corrosion snow and ice removal, inductive vehicle charging, piezoelectric energy capture, or an overcaffinated frat boy reading cue cards...
And once the roofs are all done, the next low-hanging fruit would be to build canopies of solar panels over sidewalks. They would provide shade in the sun, cover from rain, they can be angled for optimum solar collection, don’t need to be up-armored, and won’t be covered by traffic most of the time.
Everything’s a waste of money - until it’s not.
This exactly. The focus should be on covering all roofs with solar panels. You know, the areas we don’t see, use, or cover anyway.
The Germans solved the road wear-and-tear problem by making cars that are too expensive to buy and never leave the shop.
Q. Watt for watt will they ever be cheaper than roof top solar?
A. No
Q. Are all roofs covered in solar panels?
A. No
Q. Should we be looking into this until most roofs are covered?
A. Again, No
Surface has to be redone pretty regularly if you don’t do it right in the first place. I can’t talk for American methods of paving, but here in Germany I don’t recall the perfectly-intact and patch free main roads I use regularly being worked on in the last 15 years, so I don’t doubt the process used isn’t durable if…
This is neat, glad someone’s trying it out.
Great work, Ballaban. Really tremendous stuff. However, I must say that you left out the most crucial dramatization of nuclear war that currently exists on the Internet.
Is... is there any support, outside Donald Trump’s warped mind, for an expanded nuclear arsenal? I could see support for modernizing the arsenal. But growing it? I don’t even think the GOP can get behind that. It’s not cheap to maintain the nuclear force, and we get literally zip-doodly-nothing out of creating a…
Thank goodness he knows about the cyber though. Otherwise we’d be in real trouble.
