I live in a province that pays for it. It’s such a low impact overall to the health care budget that it seems cruel not to do it. Plus, the overall costs on the system for *not* doing it tend to be higher due to mental health impacts.

My kid was going to bed at 9pm and was never tired before close to midnight, even though he had to be up so early for school.

My step son had to get up just before 6am to catch the bus to be at school for his early class. Yup; they had classes before classes officially began. 4 days a week. That 5th day? He was there for 8am, but then had a late class, so never got home before 6pm.

A friend of mine made a shitload more than her husband. Like, add two 0s to the end of the salary. He got a house, a new vehicle, a 6 figure bank account balance.

We’ve paid child support for 2 kids who live with us 100% of the time. It’s been cheaper to pay it than to afford the lengthy battle, and then the therapy for the kids after dragging everything and everyone through the mud (their mother has not always been a safe parent).
