UE4 only handles small scenes while Destiny’s maps are gigantic with plenty of difficult geometry due to their organic shapes. Regarding map editing you can try for yourself. Epic has demo unreal 4 levels to play with, valve has source 2, etc. it sounds like their dev tools might need major revisions.
