I've gotta stop checking the comment section for these Ferrante news wires.

What does that mean in actual cash terms when considering the projects they get? The only big property I know of with Fassbender is X-men and it's ridiculously easy to argue that people buy those tickets to watch "X-men" not Fassbender. Same with Cumberbatch—cult following does not mean big dineros. Doctor Strange

Except that they haven't even done it in the Marvel films? I watched Dr. Strange and Swinton couldn't have been more out of place if she tried (despite doing well enough in the role). Even the token Wong (ugh, seriously Marvel) felt more of the space than she did.

Right? Because God forbid one figures out that there's more the world beyond one's own experience…

Is this Secretary of Treasury role important in the USA govt or is it just done for shits and giggles? This dude doesn't sound very smart.

Tell me about it. I'm looking at the nominees list and my whole plan is looking less and less interesting.

Yikes. Can't wait to dive it.

I watched it a few weeks ago and had the same reaction. It was a strange experience because the film was so ubiquitous in the past (esp as a Disney Channel viewer) that it sometimes felt like a repeat viewing, in parts. The animation was gorgeous and still impressive, esp in the Be Our Guest and Human Again scenes. It

Well, I just did the other day, and had exactly that response, more or less. Musical numbers like Gaston's song along with the others mentioned in the article were definitely the highlights…but I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how it got a Best Picture nom….

Yeah, not sure how anyone could have missed that. I blame the commenting system.

Thanks!

I applied as well under this name. I doubt anyone else will be able to account for me but I figured it's worth a shot…

That's true. I read this site looooooong before I became a somewhat regular commenter. Before it even had a comment section. (I still miss the Films That Time Forgot feature *sniff*.) Maybe we bump the number up to 1% of total readership…?

That's what bugs me the most.

But why, of any section of the site, would anyone want comments to be full screen…? Maybe they figured out we're the group that uses adblockers…

They tend to hyphenate nationalities eg. British-Jamaican, British-Somalian etc.

It's a good question. Hopefully, you'll be able to channel your energies in way that has more impact down the line. I do a lot of volunteer advocacy work and have learned to pitch in when I can and not waste much energy on missed opportunities. There will always be work to do in, unfortunately, too many areas.

It was discussed quite a bit in the TV Club comment section but I don't recall seeing much commentary elsewhere, that's true. (Part of why that Sansa scene bugged me is that we'd already had a whole season of Theon's torture so we reeeeaaaally didn't need more evidence of Ramsay's cruelty.) The rape generated endless

May the odds ever be in your favour.

Another issue may be that African-American actors think there's a trend of British black actors getting the choicest roles in American films when the odds are already against them. I remember that popped up when David Oyelowo got the starring role in Selma.
