This simply isn’t so. Victim impact statements go a long way in sentencing. My daughter’s best friend just gave hers to the judge who would decide how much time her father, who had been raping her since age 4, would receive. It made a huge difference.

I’ve never been one to want to see people in prison for drug offenses or nonviolent crimes. I support wholeheartedly offering treatment to people who need it and access to shelter, food…
